As I was going through the course a lot of things stood out to me. But what really got me was when Rick was teaching about the Power of Agreement. What Rick was saying is that when we worship we come into agreement with God's reality. Then it becomes our reality. Because that's what we are focusing on.
I wrote this down in my notes and wanted to share it with you guys. I feel like a lot of times we just worship because it's what we do at the beginning of service. We sing 3 songs and then listen to a sermon. But it's more than that.
On our hearts there is a throne and only one thing can be on that throne at a time. Rick Pino explains that in his Worship Coach session. If we really think about it, we can change objects on the throne like we move chess pieces. We could be focused on doubt or fear and it will rule our day. Think about it for just a second. If you wake up focused on the fear that your car is going to get taken, your whole day follows that feeling.
This is why time and time again we see people falling to their knees in worship when things get terrible. If we look at the account with David in 2 Samuel 12. This is the account where David and Bathsheba's child was dying. He fasted and prayed for the child. When the child passed, he got up, washed himself and went to the house of God and worshiped. Insane? Maybe?! But He was putting God back on the throne of his heart.
When we come into a corporate worship setting we are all magnifying God together. Each of us are putting him on the throne of our hearts. We are focusing fully on God.
I really want to challenge those who I know that in 2019 when things get gloomy. Or your focus turns to turmoil, fear, lust, anxiety, confusion, anger, or frustration you worship. Put Jesus back on the throne of your heart. Even if you look like a lunatic, just try it. Put Christ where he belongs and focus on him.
