"Take some time today to align your perspective with God's perspective so that you can do all He has invited you to do."
He used a portion of scripture from Numbers that took me on a little trip and I wanted to share that with you. With that being said, I want to challenge you to check your perspective.
Are you a giant slayer or grasshopper?
If we look at the portion of scripture in Numbers 13:33 we see a group of men who were exploring a new area of land. They came back to Moses to give a report. When they did so, this was what was said.
We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.
They were talking about Nephilim. AKA Giants. There's a whole wonderful story about Nephilim, and if you would like to know, I'd love to fill you in. But not here, not right now. Anyway. This group of men looked at the giants and were intimidated by their stature. They were stronger and bigger than the men. Giving the report to Moses they made it seem like there was no way that they could overpower these creatures that were so..... ginormous.
Many times we look at our circumstances and they seem overwhelming. We don't seem to think that we can handle what God has put in our path. We want to give up and roll over. That would be how I would describe this group of men. They looked at their circumstances instead of their God. This was after they had encountered MANY miracles. This was the group of people who saw waters part. This was the group of people who had encountered the plagues. You would think that NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, would be too big for God after encountering those things.
You would think that these people would have the same response as a teenage boy in 1 Samuel 17. In verse 48 it says that David ran quickly to the battle line to meet him. David was focused on his God rather than the circumstances. He took the giant down. The perspective of these 2 stories is completely different BUT very important.
Whatever your circumstance is, and yes I know some of you are getting attacked like crazy right now, but we have to check our perspective. Our perspective is not God's perspective. We may be looking at things and see ourselves like a grasshopper but God sees us as a giant slayer. Make sure YOU are lining yourself with God's perspective.
