Bring it to peace

This morning while I was sitting at work I googled scriptures on peace. Some days, more than I'd like to admit, I have an issue with being at peace. My circumstances are too overwhelming, my time isn't being measured properly, my son is driving me bananas. Peace is nowhere in sight. So I picked the first scripture and decided to dive in. Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you are called to peace. And be thankful.

Okay. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. My mind instantly reminds me of 1 Corinthians 14:33.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

My mind is going on a track for finding inner peace within my chaos but God had other plans for me this morning. As he usually does. He brought to mind the words of a Pastor friend of mine, Paul LaPrevotte. Before Glory Bound Motorcycle Ministry left for their mission trip to OBX, Pastor Paul brought a devotion to our group. He mentioned to us that we shouldn't spend so much time arguing doctrine with people while we were there, but rather give them gospel truth.

When I read the description of Colossians 3:15 in my life applications bible. I see that Christians are supposed to live in peace with each other. Despite their differences in doctrine. I was raised Methodist and became Charismatic when I was a teenager. My husband was raised Pentecostal and became non-active in his teenage years. Although he believed in God, he wasn't attending church or anything like that. We now attend a Baptist Church.

We have spent MANY hours talking with our Pastor about the differences in beliefs that we have and how that looks with us being in leadership with the church. We agree to disagree and respect the Baptist faith. However, we have both encountered many people who want to argue their perspectives as truth. I used to be this way.

Are you spending more time fighting with Christians about your beliefs, or spending more time spreading the Gospel to a lost and dying world. I did some research the other day and was broken to see that ON AVERAGE 124 people are committing suicide each day. EACH DAY! That's 124 people who potentially went to hell because someone didn't reach them. That's 124 children who potentially didn't get to experience the love of the Father.

That could mean 2 people in the state of Virginia are going to end their life today because they feel like its hopeless. As Christians, we need to get our minds right and stop fighting each other and start helping each other to reach the lost and hurting people in this world. Guys. It should be less about our fight against each other and more about our fight against the enemy. Satan is snatching up people daily and we are fighting on Facebook over doctrine.
