"How Long Will You Waver Between Two Opinions?"
This is a portion of a verse in 1 Kings 18. This is the story of Elijah, God's prophet who was confronting Isreal about their worship of Baal. (Who if you do any research on, you will NEVER forget it. Trust me. He's super nasty.) This is from verse 21.
Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him."
The people knew about God. It wasn't like it was a secret. Thier ruler was worshiping Baal instead of God. It's sad that people tend to follow what's popular or what someone else is doing. Because of that, they were following the wrong ways. They had a choice though.
Just like us. We have a choice to follow God's instructions or to not do it. There are area's in my life (Shocker I know) that I haven't completely given over to God. There are parts of me that still dabble in worldly thoughts or ways. I have an option. I know the scripture says opinion, but I see them as choices. Elijah was challenging the people to choose which God to serve. He was pushing them to make a decision.
Left or Right
Up or Down
Soft or hard shell taco
shoes or flip flops
You know life great decisions
What I'm poking around at is that we have a choice. In all areas of our life. BUT don't forget what it says in Revelation 3:16
So, because you are lukewarm-neither warm or cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Yeah, that's kinda a gross way to look at it. The scripture before talks about being hot or cold in your deeds. I have to wonder if it's referring to all things. Even our daily choices. How long do we waver between 2 choices? How long will we live a life that is unpleasing to God? How long will we allow the world to pull us away from God's direction?
Kinda makes you think, huh?
