Stuck in a rut

The last few days God has been showing me that I've gotten into this delightful rut. The way this conversation came about was really funny actually. I was sitting on my couch at home and found that I have 2 indents in my skull. I don't have an amazing story about how I was playing a sport and had an injury and now have these indents in my head. It's actually because I've been wearing sunglasses on my head for 15 years. Now there are 2 indentions where I slide my glasses up my head and place my glasses.

Ask anyone I know, I've been wearing them since I was about 15. I'm 30 now. I can't leave home without them. I have 3 to 4 pairs. If a pair breaks, I have to go buy another pair. Not even kidding. Anyway, so God was reminding me how in our brains we have ruts we get into. Even if you don't think about it, you've probably driven to work or home from work without remembering doing it. My husband and I do it all the time. You get ruts in your mind. How you do things and you ALWAYS do them that way.

Here's the catch. 1 John 3:9 tells us that:

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

If this is the case, you would think that it would be instant. Almost like magic right? WRONG! Training yourself to NOT sin is hard. It would be like me trying to get my skull to be normal again! Ummm well, not that drastic. I'm pretty sure my skull is a permanent problem. But you have to work on changing your direction. It's not an overnight miracle. Sometimes you are fortunate enough to have those things. But if you are REALLY saved, you want to change your ways and not sin anymore.

Just spend a lot of time in prayer and see if there is any sin that God wants you to work on in your life.
