Christian Iceberg Syndrome
We've all seen this. We've all heard this analogy. If you haven't. Let me help you out. The top of the iceberg is what we see on the outside and what's underneath the water is what is really going on. We can apply this to EVERY area of life. It's almost 90% about what's going on inside you than the 10% of what's going on on the outside.
I want to apply this to a Christian aspect. I'm sure it has been said or explained but I want to enforce this. Above the water is your life. Everything you do. Ministry. Witnessing. Speaking. The way you live your life. The waterline? Fear.
We live our lives so filled with fear. Fear of failure. Fear of rejection. Fear of judgment. Fear of exposure. Fear of neglect. Whatever it is. We are living in a constant state of fear. We don't tell our friends our struggles because we don't want to be judged. We don't step out of our comfort zone because we are afraid of failure. We don't want to explain ourselves to anyone because we fear rejection. We are too scared.
We spend so much time fearful of exposing or issues, or our downfalls, or our dreams because we are afraid. Can I tell you something? We are all failures. We are all filled with sin. We are all filled with issues. We all have shortcomings. We all hold secrets. And the enemy is using those things to keep us bound. Bound to a life where we don't excel.
In the picture above, the enemy wins. He's keeping us from that potential that God designed us for. If we make a decision to not live by fear and talk with people about our problems. The iceberg flips. I couldn't tell you guys to do something without doing it myself. That wouldn't be fair. So, let's learn an unknown about me.
For years I had struggled with keeping periods where God put them. I spent a lot of time in the land of 'what if' and 'but'. Holding onto things I should have let go of. Keeping my hand on a doorknob where God shut and locked the door. A control issue I guess. It took me opening up to my closest friend after 7 years to be able to fully close the door. Since then, I've learned a lot about myself and been able to let a LOAD of things go.
If you are suffering from anything, or ashamed of something you've done. FIND SOMEONE TO TALK TO! God already knows everything. I mean dude, he knows your thoughts before you do. And he knows your ways. He knows when you sit and when you rise! God ALREADY knows. The only way to get better is to share with others.
Galatians talks about how we are to carry our brother's burdens. How are we going to carry our brother's burdens when we aren't willing to talk about our own! We need to be able, to be honest, and transparent with others.
