Something that struck me this evening while I was making dinner was David's sense of perseverance. He knew he was anointed at a young age and spent YEARS awaiting the day he would become king over Israel. Constantly there was battle after battle. Goliath. Philistines. Saul. Countless obstacles that David faced on his journey to become king over Israel.
The constant in all of these things? David would go to God first before he would make a move. He would never take a step without talking to God first. His passion for God is evident in all area's of his life. The armies would be after him and he would go to God before he made a move. How many of us can say that in our own lives?
David battled and battled and battled before he received his crown to rule over Israel. We face so many things in our life. We can't say that we take it directly to God EVERY time. And if you can. High five to you. I know 9 times out of 10, I don't. It's not because I don't love God or anything, it's my nature because I haven't trained myself to go to God first.
David was a man after God's own heart. How many of us can say that's what we want to be known for? Being someone who is so close to God's heart that it shows in all areas of my life. Take some time this evening and think about all the obstacles that you have been facing in your own life. Think about every situation that has piled up on your plate. Did you take it to God instantly? Did you take it to God at all? Have you talked to him to get that specific direction that you desire?
If you haven't, take some of those situations to him like David did. See what God shows you in that private time you have with him. See if he changes your path. Try to keep the mind of David. Quickly to God. Passionately pursue His will and His direction.
