Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
Yesterday our guest speaker replaced the word blessed with happy. Putting that into play here. Happy is the man who doesn't put themselves in these positions. As Christians, we are called to be set apart. We can't put one foot in the world and the other in the church and expect things to work. I mean you can try, but trust me. Double-mindedness is a hell you don't want to walk through.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
We live in a world that is overwhelmed by serving the father of lies. It only wants to make things better for Satan. It glorifies him. Christians have to know their word. That's the only way that we can combat the enemy. You can try in your own strength and will fail. Trust me on that one too. If you don't know what God's word says, you will end up sitting in the counsel of the wicked. The Bible tells us that we are set apart. The Bible tells us that we are a royal priesthood. It also tells us that we can't be unequally yoked. We have to be willing to meditate on God's word AND be obedient. This doesn't mean that you get to pick and choose what scriptures you follow. If I can't keep my sin, then you can't either. Don't make excuses for sin. It will not end well.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prosper.
If we follow the instruction in the first two verses we will see fruit. Now, I once heard it said that the way we know a Christian is a real Christian is that we see their fruit. If we make sure that we stay away from people who aren't Christ-like and we study our word we will eventually see fruit in our lives. We will see prosperity. We will see growth. We will see good things. That doesn't mean that it's going to be easy like cake. It's going to be hard and we have to put in work!
Not so with the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
This just says, Hey you don't do what I'm saying above, it won't be so with you. You have to be grounded well in God's word to withstand the storms of life. You don't want to be like a dandelion that is just blown all over the place with a passing wind.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
WE WILL BE SEPARATED!
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Look, it's simple. You are either watched over or not. If you are with the world, the father of lies, the wicked, you will perish. We win in the end. Thank God for David and his honest heart. For his bold spirit. Thank God that he was willing to step on toes in his time of hurt so he could reach a lost world. We should be the same.
