New Rule: If you invite me to your selling group and that's all you 'use me' for on Facebook I will unfriend you. Our friendship (no matter how superficial) isn't a marketplace for you to sell your newest thing.
I screamed with delight as I wanted to share and post it all over my page. These days I feel so much disconnect with people. Not because I'm not ALWAYS on Facebook but because my Facebook feed is filled with pop up this, sale that, bash 101, scratcher c-3po. It's insane how many "Businesses" that I have throwing product at me on the daily.
It's not that I'm not happy for people who have decided to adventure into having their own business. It's the constant QVC commercialization. The constant 'vendor' events that are going on on my Facebook. Let me show you a quick example of what I'm talking about. Recently, a friend of mines mother encountered a VERY scary moment in her life where she coded twice before she was stable. My own mother had to tell me about it because it didn't even show up on my feed.
What I'm getting at is that we are so disconnected with each other as people that we don't know whats going on in people's lives anymore. What's even worse is we don't take the time to call someone, or text them, to see what's going on. The problem with this you might wonder? If we are so disconnected with the people in our lives then how in the world are we connecting with God?
Honestly, how many of you wake up, turn your alarm off on your phone and check Facebook, email, or instagram? We don't even give the first 15 minutes of our day to God. How do we manage to connect with God. I can't say much because I'm just as guilty as the next. I'm just trying to figure out how life got so impersonal. I send thank you cards for the church for first time visitors, and something that takes an hour means the world to some people. To others, it's just another piece of mail. Some might not even open it.
We lack connection. We lack communication. We lack community. We would rather Skype a meeting than actually HAVE one. If we can't seem to do that with the people we love, who we can see, then what is that saying about our relationship with God?
Have you had your quiet time today?
