All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. - Walt Disney
Born in 1901, he was destined for greatness. At the young age of 4, he developed a passion for drawing. (We tend to start developing our passions very young because we have no worldly limitations on our brain!) Looking through this man's childhood you can see bits of pieces that God was placing in his life for him to become great. Despite their constant moving, pieces were being put into place to build this amazing mans future.
At the age of 16, after dropping out of High School, he was rejected by the Army because of his age. During his High School career he was taking night classes at Chicago Academy for Fine Arts. In January of 1920, he took the plunge and started cartooning with a friend. After a rocky start he left to make some money, but never gave up his passion. In 1922, he developed and bankrupted a studio. Most of us would have given up here, but not this man. Almost a year and a half later, he tried again.
In 1932, he received an Academy Award. At the age of 31 this man started to finally become recognized for his greatness. In 1937. his first full motion picture, which followed his cartoon series that he released. The start of that full motion picture began in 1934. This film is on AFI's 100 greatest movies of all time. The company that he started with his brother in 1923, as of 2015, has a net income of 8.38 Billion US dollar, and a revenue of 52.46 Billion US Dollars. It now has theme parks, cruises, not to mention thousands of movies, awards, and employees.
Walt Disney and his brother Roy, started something that we all know and love. Disney. So, I have to ask you. What's holding you back from achieving greatness. The Disney brothers experienced failures. They experienced hardship, hard work, and GREAT reward. Of course, Walt is no longer with us, but look at the legacy the man left behind. What footprint are you wanting to leave long after you are gone? Do you believe that you are called for greatness?
