What is it? What does it do? It's the divine ability to see the presence and activity of a spirit that motivates a human being, good or bad. It can produce a real spirit of security against false doctrine, lies, and all kinds of things that are unreal. It can enable a church to choose the proper men and women to fulfill their ministries within the church. This gift can be used to identify the nature and character of spirits, seen and unseen including Angelic Spirits, Demonic/Satanic Spirits, Human Spirits, and the Spirit of God.
Some things that this spirit is NOT:
Seeing faults in others. There is an insert from a book called Gifts of the Spirit by Harold Horton. Not one of us requires the baptism in the Holy Spirit to endow us with the gift of criticism and faultfinding. Judge not, that ye be not judged. One of the purposes of the Holy Ghost baptism is to destroy this gift of criticism and replace it with the sweet "gift" of gentle forbearance. This spiritual gift is not discerning of character nor of faults, but of spirits. There need be no spiritual gift to uncover human failings, but there needs to be a good deal of Godly love to cover them.
Mind reading. Discerning of spirits should not be confused with the so called art of mind reading. This gas no religious significance.
Spiritualist phenomena. Mediums. These spirits have power to impersonate the dead, deceiving bereaved people into believing that they are in communication with deceased loved ones. This is not but a cruel hoax. This is the work of a lying spirit. The gift of discerning of spirits has nothing to do with the practice of witchcraft or black arts either. Instead, the gift boldly exposes the satanic character of these practices.
Psychiatry. Counseling, yes. Psychiatry, no. There is no belief in psychiatry has the answers for Christian people. It's the probing of the minds of these disturbed persons for mental blocks and releasing hidden hostilities. They are usually ignorant of the Scriptures and ordinarily deny the existence of demonic spirits.
This is where a lot of people get offended. A few years back I was addicted to watching the paranormal stuff. I'm talking, staying up late, binge watching, you name it. I actually walked a weird line where I was talking to a friend and described their living room and told them there was a spirit who sat on the couch in their living room. She was 1800. Anyway, it became to detailed to the point where I would speak to her. This person saw her as well.
This is totally demonic. The spirit, seeming very innocent, was anything BUT innocent. It got to the point where God told me to stop watching paranormal stuff. No tours. No movies. No TV shows. That was something that really interested me. It was a soft spot in my spiritual walk. I always told people that I was fine watching that stuff because I knew that it was real. I knew that it was demonic. I could totally go and watch it and not be effected. That was a hardened spirit inside me that wanted me to continue to watch/let that stuff in.
Again, take everything with a grain of salt. Test what you read with the bible. Test the spirits, good or evil. Remember that Satan knows the bible and was once a strong angel. Check the motives. Good Night my lovelies.
