PAST/PRESENT - KNOWLEDGE
FUTURE - WISDOM
This is something that the person doesn't know. Something ears hadn't heard or their eyes hadn't seen. A secret sin or private thing. I have 3 examples of this. When I was in a meeting one night, the pastor stood up front and said that there was someone having specific medical issues and named the area where it was happening. I hadn't spoken to anyone about it other than my close friends. This man was from West Virginia and had never met me before in my life. How would he have known that? By the Holy Spirit exercising the gift of Knowledge. God wouldn't reveal these specific things unless there was a reason for it.
In the bible there is a great example of when Jesus used this spiritual gifting. When Jesus was talking to the Woman at the Well He knew fact after fact after fact after fact about her. That she was living in town with a man that she wasn't married to and she had a certain amount of husbands before him. Jesus had never met this woman before but he knew multiple facts about this woman. Not only was he the son of God BUT he was a friend of the Holy Spirit who worked through him over and over again.
When my husband was small he was in church one night and out of nowhere a woman started speaking in tongues. Across the room a woman interpreted the message. She said 'we have to pray now for Jason', Justin's older brother. She saw a car accident that would take his life. They stopped the meeting and started praying. Later that night my father in law asked Jason about it. He said there was nothing going on, later on he told him that he was feet away from a car smashing into him. Of course, Justin can tell this story much better than me because I wasn't there.
This situation couldn't have happened without the Holy Spirit being manifested in the body. Speaking in tongues, interpretation, wisdom and knowledge. Now could this have been fake? Do I believe that it was? Heck no techno. If it wasn't something that the Holy Spirit had revealed to the church, I might not have ever gotten to meet Jason. People can try to fake all the gifts. However, if they do someone who contains discerning of spirits will be able to tell that it's all fake.
All the information that I brought in this blog was from Lester Sumrall's book. I didn't include anything from Commissioned with Power. Mainly because I haven't read it yet. If there is something that I need to add after I read it I will do so in another blog. BUT I do believe that we have a pretty good grasp of what Words of Wisdom and Words of Knowledge are. Next, one of my personal favorites. Discerning of Spirits :-D
