One Bad Batch

I've been covering Galatians 5 over the last few days and now I'm up to verse 9. Verse 7 talked about being distracted from obeying the truth of the Gospel. Verse 8 talked about the false teacher/prophet over placing the call of God with their own deceptive persuasiveness. Now verse 9.

A little yeast works through a whole batch of dough.

Let me give you the ingredients to a simple loaf of bread. 

6 1/2 cups all purpose flour

2 1/4 cup of warm water

3 tablespoons of sugar

2 tablespoons of canola oil

1 tablespoon of salt

1.5 teaspoons of active dry yeast (1/4 oz packet)

I put them in order of largest to smallest. Notice that yeast is the least. It really only takes a little bit of yeast to work through all that flour.  It only takes ONE person to tear apart a large group of people. During my time at a church there was such a situation. One person made an accusation which caused a great division and commotion in the body. What could have been a simple conversation ended up being a case for the church board. 

A false teacher/prophet will try to control situations and dominate everything. They end up trying to change the direction of the church. I'm not making accusations about this person but this situation seemed to want to change the direction of the church to supporting their shepherd to stripping him down to nothing and beating him down. God places people in positions for a reason. He knows what he's doing. 

Think about this scenario for a second. You are hanging with a group of friends. You are talking about this hilarious movie that you have just seen You are telling them about all the funny parts and everyone is having a good time. Someone walks by that you all know and you yell to get his attention. When he walks over he seems like something is wrong. He tells you about all the bad things going on in his life. The mood at the table instantly changes to sorrow. ONE PERSON can change the atmosphere.

This is why God calls us to be a light in the dark world. We can change peoples perspective and attitudes. This world is a dark and scary place. We hold this great piece of light that we could share with others. Just like 1.5 teaspoons of active dry yeast can transform a batch of 6 1/2 cups of flour, you can change the lives of thousands by one conversation with one person. In other words, don't be a Debbie Downer be a Ursela Uplifter. 

If Satan can use one person to derail a church, what can you do with God to change a generation? Make sure you are looking for opportunities to share your faith. And keep a watchful eye out for someone in your life that is trying to make it toxic. Satan will use anyone, even your best friend. Satan can use the person who is the most bible knowledge. 

 A) Look for someone trying to distract you from obeying the Gospel.

 B) Look for someone who tries to over place the call of God with their own motives.

C) Look for someone who is trying to control situations and overthrow the leaders.
