Insta-God

We have raised a generation of instant everything. Instant answers. Instant gratification. Instant food. Instant service. Curbside everything. It's funny because the world has tried to make it seem that we lead these amazing hectic lives that we don't have time to shop for ourselves. We don't have time to do anything that would take away time from our 'busy' schedules.

I'm just as guilty as the next person. I'm in a constant state of chaos and worry because I'm not going to get everything done I need to before it needs to be done. Reality? I've put WAY too many expectations on myself. Way too many obligations. It's my own personal fault. But don't we all do that? Don't we all fill our cards just a little too much? Football, baseball, meetings, friends, concerts, seminars. We push and push and push to seem busy. In a constant state of rush and go go go.

We have completely forgotten what it's like to BE STILL! Everyone has their own opinion of worship services and that's fine. But some of my most loved memories are evening when I have listened to worship music and just remained still. The silence and intimacy of being with Christ. Don't get it weird. Because it's not. And if you instantly laugh at the word intimacy with Christ, I bet you've never experienced it like it's intended to be. We forget to read our bible. We forget to spend time in prayer. We forget to just BE ALONE WITH GOD! We are constantly running that we can't spend 5 minutes in prayer because we 'don't have time.'

Today, before I did a photo shoot, I sat in a chair. I sat and rocked. I just sat and listened to the rain and took a minute. It was the most relaxed that I have been in months. Take a minute tonight and just TAKE A MINUTE!!! Turn your phone off. Turn your TV off. Turn off everything for 5 minutes and JUST BE STILL!!!!!
