I am unwanted

Lie: I am unwanted
Truth: I am a child of God

I want to start off with this lie because it's pretty common. At least in my life. I grew up the best friend to all the guys. Like I watched all my gal pals date and I was just the guy's friend that was the girl. Never the dateable kinda gal. I always felt unwanted or undesirable.

Maybe things in your life have made you feel unwanted. Maybe you are single and you don't think that you will ever be desired enough by anyone to be married. Maybe you are married and your spouse constantly makes you feel like you are unwanted or undesired. There is a problem with both of those scenarios. They both rely on PEOPLE to make you feel wanted.

One thing I have learned over the years is that people will fail you. I don't care WHO they are. They will fail. My husband and I have been married for almost 8 years and the greatest thing about our marriage is that we know that each person is going to fail. We don't put either person on a pedestal. We know that each of us will fall short so we don't rely on each other to be each others source of joy. Just like when you are single you shouldn't look to someONE to be your source of joy. In both situations, we should look to God to be our source.

We can't rely on people or circumstances to make us feel wanted. God tells us that we are wanted. Let's look at a few scriptures to help you be reminded that you are wanted by God.

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children not born of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
John 1:11-13 NIV

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:26 NIV

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will
Ephesians 1:4-5 NIV

I love the last one because it says that he predestined us to adopt us as his sons/daughters. He determined before you were born that he was going to love you. If that doesn't just make you feel wanted, I don't know what else will. It's God's will and pleasure to love you. Through your faith, by accepting him into your life, it makes you a child of His. He is just sitting there waiting for you to accept him and BOOM instant child of God.

That scripture doesn't say when you get your life right. Right now, where you are. God loves you and wants to be a part of your life. I'm not sure what could make someone feel more loved.
