As a mother, I get the wonderful excuse to see all the amazing new kids movies when they come out. This morning while I was getting ready and my grumpy toddler walked into my room I quickly threw on a movie. Today's choice, Despicable Me 3. I was getting ready and was listening to Gru talk to his mom about having a brother. I've watched this movie MANY times and this time what happened hit me hard.
His mother said something along the lines of, 'we had to pick a child and obviously I got the second choice.' Gru's response was amazing. He didn't hang on the fact that his mother just burned him. He was focused on the joyful fact that he had a brother.
Wow. Gru was so overcome with joy that he couldn't even give a toot what his mom just said. This world will do anything and everything to keep us down and out and depressed. Kick us when we are down. Throw rocks at us. Spit on us. What in the world?!?! I know a lot of times I see these people that aren't following God's plan and wonder why I'm dealing with so many problems and they are just sliding by without a care!
Satan doesn't want us to succeed. He wants to take us out. He wants to turn our focus to other things. And unfortunately, Christians are easily moved in that direction because they lack the knowledge of what God's word says. If we knew God's word like we are supposed to we wouldn't be bothered by what Satan tries to trip us up with. We wouldn't focus on the "we had to a pick a child and obviously I got the second choice.' We would be focused on the fact that we had a brother.
Today I really want you to focus on what God's word tells you about yourself. Even if you just focus on the fact that you are fearfully and wonderfully made and he has a plan for your life. If that's it, then that's great. Because I want each of you to have the joy that Gru had when he found out he had a brother.
