Frost on the car.

This afternoon I was sitting on the bathroom floor picking up some q-tips off the floor when I looked out the window. With the black curtains we have, the front yard looked like it was covered in frost. I laughed because it's 4 in the evening. I KNOW there is no frost on the ground. Like all matters, God was trying to show me something.

This morning when I went out to start my car there was a little frost on the window. Not a lot, but it was enough to impair my judgment while driving. I had to scrape my window clear so I could see to drive. I was just thankful the whole windshield wasn't covered like the back window was. The window, covered with frost, is like the effects of hidden sin on our eyes. If we allow a little-hidden sin into our lives, we begin to have problems seeing or thinking clearly. The more we allow into our lives, the more our impairment becomes. Think about how hard it is to get that thick frost off of your windshield when you are running late!

If we live our life hiding our sin, we won't be able to see clearly. Things will be blurry or we will have no sight at all. The great thing is that we have a lifesaver called Christ who gives us the tools to wipe the windshield clear. Notice I didn't say that Christ will just wipe it clear for us. Could he, yes! He gives us tools and instructions on how to live our lives free of sin. But if we aren't willing to apply those tools and direction to our life, our windshields will remain impaired. If that makes sense.

I keep going back to the scripture about faith without works is dead. I'm not claiming that we have to do works to earn our place in heaven. Or accomplish a certain amount of hours to be approved in God's book. I'm saying that God has pretty clear instructions in his word about how to live. And unfortunately, we are living in a generation that is to accepting to sin. We have a generation of spineless soldiers that want to believe only in the God of love and acceptance. Another rant for another day.

Don't allow hidden sin into your life and you will be able to see. Any sin for that matter. But hidden sin is what really trips us up as Christians!
