Double stuffed standards.

This morning I was making my way onto Interstate 81. I always try to be up to speed by the time I hit the entrance ramp. I got on behind a tractor-trailer and checked my blind spot. I was going to pass him but a car seemed to be coming up at a quick rate of speed. I sat back in the seat and waited for the car to pass. It was a state police officer. After he passed I got behind him to get up the road. I got into a 65 mph zone when I started to slow down. The officer kept moving away from me. After hitting 75 mph, he was STILL moving away from me.

Here lately I have been OBSESSED with double standards. For the officer to continue to speed when he is supposed to be upholding the law drives me insane. Just because you are driving a police car doesn't give you the right to break the law. You are still a civilian, just like me. But it's not just the police that seems to have a double standard. It's everywhere.

Yesterday I was listening to some music on youtube. I have a group of 4 songs I listen to constantly. I walked into the kitchen to work on lunch and heard another song that I enjoy. I came into the living room to see the music video. The female artist had a crop top on. See through. And wasn't wearing a bra. Now, explain to me how THAT is okay but breastfeeding in public isn't? See the double standard the world is upholding.

You see it everywhere. Sometimes in churches. Sometimes in your job. Sometimes in your own family. After some quality time with God... aka yelling in frustration. I started looking at Gods word to see what it said.

The Lord detests double standards;

he is not pleased by dishonest scales.

Proverbs 20:23 NLT

I can't even begin to imagine the amount of frustration from God when he sees his children living a life with a double standard. Could you imagine? You can't live a life with a double standard AND double life. It's exhausting. Eventually, you will crumble and break. You can put on a show for a long time. What's the point? You will still show your true colors. The world swims in double standards. God doesn't dislike... it says DETESTS. The King James uses the word abomination. Do you have ANY idea how terrible that is?

Abomination - a thing that causes disgust or hatred

Even though the world does it, doesn't make it okay.  Think today about things that you have been using as a double standard. Seek Gods word if you aren't for sure. Or call upon someone you trust and love that would be able to guide you. Living a double standard makes God very upset. And you don't wanna do that do you.
