I realize that yesterdays blog might have been a little on the line. I know that Sex isn't really a popular subject when it comes to Christians, but I think it should be. If we weren't so hush hush about our values and what the purpose was for sex, maybe teenager christians wouldn't be so easily persuaded to fall into the temptation that is thrust at them from the world. I mean shoot, media portrays sex in a light that makes it look glamorous and extravagant. And it is. Just inside the walls of marriage.
Which brings me to today's blog. You're worth more. When Justin and I started dating one of the first questions was how many people had we been with. Which is a terrible question. I don't advise it. I also don't advise making fun of someone who has a high or low number. It's not like the SATS where a higher number is better or a lower number means you aren't valued.
Everything in this life seems like a graded assignment. In school you are graded on your level of knowledge. At work you are evaluated on a number scale. Your driving record. I mean for heavens sake, your social security number is a number. Everything is numbered. Your address. Your phone number. On a scale of 1-10 please rate this seller on Amazon. Our age is even a number.
Let me tell you this, you are worth more than your sexual partner number is. If it's 0 because you are a virgin or 25, God sees you the same. The world might look at you differently but God doesn't. Yesterday's blog might have hurt a little bit. It hurt me to write it. I'm in that group of people that had a larger number than I would have liked to had. But thankfully, God doesn't see me differently because my number is higher than someone else.
That's the beauty of God. He doesn't see you for what you have done because He has already forgiven your past sins. The person who keeps bringing it up is you. It's forgiven. It's already dealt with. But even if your number is 18, 25, 37, 42, 51, 68, or more it doesn't make your value go down. God doesn't see that number. He sees a you as His child. And that, to me, is more valuable than a number system that the world keeps trying to shove in my face.
