You know, I have to do this because I know that it will completely make Satan mad. During the wrestling match between the UFC fighter and Kevin James, there were 3 rounds. The first round wasn't to terrible, but Kevin was getting his butt handed to him. The second round is where I came in. After that second round Kevin was beat up so badly that he couldn't even walk straight. The poor boy couldn't even find his corner. After a "pep talk" from Harry Winkler, it was like he was completely refreshed. Round three Kevin got some hits in then they were down holding positions. Kevin's coach was telling him not to lose grip to hold on a little tighter.
He lost grip. But somehow regained the upper hand, picked up the UFC fighter, and dropped him on his back and wins the match. That's very much how it is when we fight with Satan. The bible tells us that our battle isn't against flesh but with principalities of darkness. (Ephesians 6:12) When we do battle in any area of life, we have to make sure that we put on the armor of God. I'm not going to tell you what those things are. You can find that in Ephesians 6, if you need a refresher.
If you would like to know how to battle those principalities you should check out the movie war room. I saw it Friday night with a fantastic amiga. The old lady reminded me of my God mother. Instead of us fighting Satan on our own, or anything else in life, shouldn't we just hand it over to God and let Him do work for us? Another blog, another day. If you wanna know how to battle, watch that movie. AMAZING!!!!
Back to here comes the boom. When we start battling Satan we always start out cocky and thinking we can do things on our own. We fail. Round two, we start getting the crap kicked out of us and start thinking that we can do it but end up leaning on the side of giving up and going to the 'dark side.' Finally when we get sat down, God gives us a pep talk.
"I know you think you can do it on your own, but you can't. I could do this with my eyes closed and here you are fighting until you are getting beat down. Just give it up and I will fight this battle for you."
We ignore it and go back out. We feel like we have a little bit of an upper hand and we are on the edge of winning. Then we slip and fall. As we are laying, broken, severely beaten, and feeling completely helpless and defeated. We hear God's voice, "give it to Me. I can win this."
Finally we give it to God and we see our whole circumstance turn around. Let's be realistic. It doesn't happen instantly. Sometimes it takes years. This happens in all area's of our life. We just have to start giving it to God sooner and not allowing ourselves to get beaten. We have to let God fight our wars for us. We have to stop trying to be the tough guy and know that we can't defeat Satan on our own.
What area's in your life are you having a hard time handing over to God to do the battle in your own life?
