8 Things to know when Christians hurt you.

I came across a lengthy article the other morning about 8 things to do when Christians hurt you. I jotted them down, in a long drawn out description. I wanted to give you something for today so I'm giving you the run down.

1) Know, and understand, that Christians will hurt your feelings.
*Because of the fall, we contain free will. We will fail, it happens. It's fleshly judgement.

2) When others hurt you, your spiritual maternity will be relieved.
*You can either deal with it before God or hurt others. Hurt people, hurt people.

3) God intends to use mistreatment for our good.
*Paraphrasing Romans 8:28
Everything that comes into our lives, weather good or evil, first passed through the hands of a sovereign, loving God before it got to us. And He uses it for good.

4) Christians often get offended by reading into words and actions.
*Christians are the most easily offended people in the world, when we should be the least.

5) Christian often get offended with a person when they believe false accusations against them.
*Devil means Slander and Satan is the ultimate slanderer. The bible tells is that gossip separates close friends. It's one of the seven things that God hates - sowing seeds of discord among brethren.

6) What you do with hurt is your choice.
*You are the person who holds the power in your own hands. You have a choice to choose what happens when you get hurt.

7) To be offended by a child of God is to be offended by God.
*I don't feel like that needs explanation.

8) You CAN live a life free from offense.

I could go into detail about these things, however it's just simpler to see it like this. I've dealt a lot with offense a lot here lately and the one that hit me the most was 6. What I do with the hurt that I feel is my own choice. I remember reading in Unglued, by Lysa TerKeurst, that I have to start using all circumstances to see the good. That way every time I am in a situation, that I'm hurt/angered/or frustrated I look for the good in the situation.

I encourage you to know that when you are faced with offense, try to find the lesson in the moment. Try to not take offense. I know that it's easier said than done, but try. Look at every situation and try to find the good in it. Attempt to be the better person. The christian life isn't simple. It's challenging, but totally worth it.
