Today after I got off from work, Justin wanted to go visit our wonderful Goodwill and check out some things. When I got inside, we did the normal thing. Straight to the books. We looked at some kids toys and ended up at the junk stuff. Walking through I saw a display of about 40+ trophies. Beauty pageants, football, bowling, softball, it was endless.
I laughed to myself. All these things that people spend hours of their life trying to accomplish, to receive a trophy. At the end of the day, they end up at the local thrift store selling for a dollar. TobyMac has a song that he sings and he says, 'I don't want to gain the whole world and lose my soul.' Am I trying to say that documenting our children's accomplishments aren't important, no. I'm saying what are the things that you are trying to document.
We spend to much time trying to fit in in the world that we forget the things that are important in our life. We focus on the outward to much and not enough on the internal. There is so much that we take for granted that we don't see. I'm not saying that our body isn't important to take care of. I'm trying to say that we need to make sure that our intentions are correct.
Happy Tuesday, and no I haven't forgotten the spiritual gifts. :0)
