When God calls, OH look a chipmunk...

I've harped a lot on the story of Adam and Eve lately but I wanted to use Adam as an example for obedience because, well, he is our first example of disobedience. The first story told can be used to almost explain anything. So, I've based this study around what your level of dedication is. I picked 4 people and here is the start.

ADAM - I'M JUST HERE, OH LOOK A CHIPMUNK

And the Lord God COMMANDED man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."     -   Genesis 2:16

Adam was put on this earth with ONE instruction. One command. One SMALL SMALL SMALL piece of information. Do NOT eat from the tree of knowledge. This was COMMANDED, not suggested. He was directed with authority. DO NOT. He had a whole garden full of everything that he could snack on, but not that ONE tree.

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the mans rib (took part of the mans side) and closed up the place with flesh.    Gen 2:21

See from the start, women have been a pain in a mans side. I seriously have no point with that. I just found it funny that it basically was the start of the phrase, "You are a pain in my side."

I was looking around for a song that would basically describe, in my opinion, of Adam's personality.
I found the song, "I'm just sitting here." By The Beatles. All I saw was people skipping through a field without a care in the world. Imagine Adam, skipping along in the garden of Eden with no care in the world. Cupid Shuffling over to where Eve was chilling. Then we see this verse.

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.      Genesis 3:6

Adam was with her. I'm not saying that he is to blame for the fall of humanity. He was very trusting of Eve that he just took the fruit without question and ate it. He didn't think to say, Hey, this looks like a different fruit. Or hey wait this is from the tree that we aren't supposed to eat from. You know when we are given a task Satan will try to come in and screw us up and redirect our focus. How dedicated was Adam and Eve? In my own opinion, I think that they were dedicated to the task BUT they were easily distracted. Once they became distracted, everything fell apart. It's like they had the personality of Hemy the squirrel from over the hedge.

Satan is sneaky. He will easily entrap people who are easily distracted. Peter walking on water. (Matthew 14:22-33) He was distracted by the circumstances around him to the point that he took his focus off Christ and started to fail. Vs 30 talks about how he started to focus on the wind, he got scared, he started sinking. Jesus, of course, grabs him and says (vs 31) "You have little faith, why did you doubt?" Are you like that? Quick to glance at the circumstance and become more focused on that then the task placed before you? We switch focus and then things we are asked to do, don't get done.

When God calls, don't doubt. When God calls, keep focus. When God calls, know that Satan will try his hardest to distract you. When God calls you, know that it's for a reason.
