BREAK IT DOWN NOW Y'ALL!!

I'm going to actually combine a few chapters into one right here. There is a lot of information in this book so I'm really skimming the top off. I'm going to recap chapters 3-6 in this blog. Hopefully this will make some kind of sense. Let's dive in.

These gifts of the Spirit are our weapons of warfare. They are not designed just to make you different from other people, they are given to equip you for God's service. In some bodies of believers, the gifts are misused. When they are misused they cease to function. They will no longer work. Meaning in the church. To have these gifts, we have to have 2 foundation stones. Unity and love. Without those they can't exist.

We have a lot of separation in the body. I am the first to have this issue. I'll be honest. My husband approached me with a job being a praise and worship leader at a Baptist Church. I laughed it off because I know how Baptist feel about Speaking in Tongues. Not to mention that I wouldn't be able to hold myself back from being charismatic. In most of the book, Lester tells us that we have to not to judge people because of their doctrine or denomination. Charismatics can co-exist in any type of church. Methodist, Baptist, and even Presbyterian.

For many years it's grieved the Lord and made Satan laugh when we fight among ourselves. We cannot, as a church, effect the world until there is unity in the body. We as Christians cannot be effective until we can get together. He says it again, we can't fight over doctrines and denominational difference.

There are 3 groups of Spiritual Gifts. Revelation, Power, and Inspiration. These gifts will not function until we have the right attitude in our soul. This is not something that is specific to certain people in leadership or only a few people. I found this statement very interesting, "No Church body ever decreased when the gifts of the Spirit were in operation there." These gifts always bring a profit. You aren't going to get every gift, or just the power gifts. This is the Holy Spirits job to distinguished what gift will be used by you.

These gifts cannot be given to you if you have an attitude of selfishness or jealousy. Only in a loving person. Not just loving but you have to want it. Lester mentions that if someone doesn't want the gift that God wants to give them then they will not receive it. So you better check yourself before you wreck yourself.
