What's your worth?

This morning I watched Charles Stanley (83) and Steven Furtick (35) this morning. Dr Charles Stanley spoke about Hope and Steven Furtick spoke on "Net worth." Two completely different sermons both sprouting this blog here.

Charles Stanley spoke about the woman at the well. He spoke about how she felt hopeless and felt like she was unworthy of all things in her life. She had been with multiple men, she wasn't seen as a very valuable person. Everyone looked at her in a certain light due to her past. While she was at the well, Jesus approached her. I'm sure in her mind she was thinking, "Here is another person who is going to judge me because of what I've done in my life." The only reason I say that is because once you have a negative mindset, you don't seem to think any other way about yourself.

He talked about how Jesus looked at her in a new light. He didn't look at her for what she had done but what she could become. She had never experienced anything like that before. She had never had someone look at her for what she could be. As Christians, we need to look at other people in that aspect. I know we don't always do that, but imagine how much better life would be if we did. What would this world be like if we looked at ourselves like that. Looking at ourselves like we actually have worth.

Looking at Steven Furtick's sermon. It was about what you were worth. He used a Gideon New Testament bible as an example. He showed someone in the audience the small bible and asked, "What would you give me for this?" The man looked at him confused. He said, "Seriously, keep it 100. What amount of money would you give me for this bible?" The man finally responded, "a quarter." Steven Furtick told him that they leave them all over the place and he would probably be offering him way to much money. He then told him the story behind the bible. His pastor, and spiritual leader, was in his room in college and prayed, "God if you are real, show me a sign." Right when he exited his dorm room a man stopped him and gave him that Gideon's bible. Steven Furtick said, "You can't give me enough money for me to give you this bible because what I feel that it's worth."

The way that Jesus looked at the woman at the well is the way he looks at you every single day. Every day is new and the amount of forgiveness that he holds is unimaginable. He looks at you like it's the first time, every time. You are priceless to him. Others might not see you as valuable. You might not see yourself as valuable, BUT YOU ARE. Your story is unique. God finds great value in you. You are like that Gideon bible to Steven. There is NOTHING that could separate you from his love.

Don't look at yourself as a waste of space. Don't look at your life like it was a mistake. You are made for a purpose, you are here for a reason. God has a purpose and a plan for you. YOU MATTER! These 2 sermons, by 2 separate pastors proves that YOU DO MATTER. DO NOT THINK OTHERWISE!!!!!!!!!
