As a Christian, what do I do in the election of 2016?

If you are looking for me to tell you who needs to be in the White House, or who I am voting for, you have come to the wrong place. If you are looking for me to down our current President, I won't be. Each of you who know me well enough know that I am a person who upholds the constitution. I own fire arms. I do not believe in abortion. And I am a Christian and I try to uphold what God says in His word.

With that being said, I want to say this. No matter who the nominees are for the 2016 Presidential Election and NO MATTER WHO is placed in the White House, remember what God's word says about our leaders.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4

For ALL PEOPLE! Paul tells us that we have to pray and be thankful for all people. The common theme of Christianity, if you will, is to love all people. It doesn't matter what the person does, they are still Children of God. (Lets not even get started on a persons past. Just take a look at the story of the woman who was caught in the act of adultery John 8:1-11 and pick up your stone if you feel lead.) It says for ALL THOSE IN AUTHORITY. The person who runs this country has a huge responsibility, we should be praying for them. And be thankful that there is a possibility that they will be saved, if they aren't already. The Lord God wants all people to come to know the truth and be saved. Shouldn't we spend more time thinking about that than complaining about who ends up in office? Or even the nominees (And their past mistakes) in general?

Later in that same scripture section it says this.....
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free of anger and controversy.
1 Timothy 2:8

You know, I see a lot of division in the body of Christ. Over politics, doctrines, and personal opinion. When someone from the outside comes inside, they see all these arguments and think, what's the point? If all these people do is fight, then where is the 'love' that we hear about all the time. Spending time arguing about who should be running our country we should be spending praying that we get someone in there who upholds the word of God and has a personal relationship with Him. We should be praying for the salvation of the person who runs this country.

There is to much, WAY TO MUCH, fighting going on about race. Yep, I went there. You know I love all people for who they are, not their denomination, ethnicity, or location in their journey. But recently, I have experienced the blunt end of racism by someone who I love deeply. I'm white as a fallen snow, thank you Irish roots. And I cannot believe that this country has gotten to where we are. So, on the subject of racism, thank you to each of you who participate and claim to be Christian. Just another wedge in the body. I hope you are completely proud of yourself. What ever happened to love one another and judge that ye be not judged.

Trump vs. Hillary. That's my prediction for 2016. And you want to know who I am voting for? The lesser of two evils. And I will spend more time in prayer for them, regardless of who ends up being elected. Because as a Christian, that's what I am called to do.
