The Gift of Healing.

This is, in my opinion, one of the most controversial of the gifts. This is a plural gift. There are lots of different area's of healing that can be used. Lester's book instantly begins warnings about how many people who contain this gift become selfish. They get a "look at me" mentality. When that occurs God "takes you out". Not killing you, but He gives you a nice kick in the butt. One example is of a man named Jack Coe who began exulting himself for the healings. In 1956 he was preaching in Arkansas and became critically ill. He was diagnosed with Polio and died in 1957. Before his death, he told Gordon Lindsay (who is the author of the other book I'm reading) that God was taking him out of ministry.

The book by Gordon Lindsay is extremely detailed on this subject. A random fact for you, Luke was a physician before he entered ministry with the Apostle Paul. But after he entered ministry, there was no record that he practiced medicine ever again. Very interesting fact. Let me break down the rest of this 30 page in depth chapter for you.

Methods of Administering Divine Healing. Healing through personal prayer. You are a lot more effective than you give yourself credit for. Healing through laying on of hands. Healing through the command of faith. Healing through spoken word. There is life and death in your tongue. Healing through anointed cloth. This was what happened with the woman with the issue of blood. She touched the hem of Jesus garment and was healed. Healing through performing an act of faith. Healing by the anointing of the elders.

There are various healing gifts.
1) Casting out blind, deaf, and mute spirits.
2) Casting out the more powerful devils. (This warns against extremely powerful demons, such as epileptic and insane spirits. Sometimes it will require lots of fasting and praying to get demons out. But you have to be careful when casting anything out because the person could allow that demon or disease back into their life.)
3) General healing of the sick. (Some sicknesses are caused by a demon who controls the persons body. Some are from germs or infection.)
4) Also creative miracles.
5) Ministering with healing power.
6)  Raising the dead.
7) Healing of drug addiction.

And there is much more to be said. If you are curious about healing I would recommend picking up a copy of commissioned with power by Gordon Lindsay. He is very detailed and descriptive.
