Every single one of us wants more. May it be more time, or more money, patience, strength, or well really anything. More. We are a gimme generation with a gimme attitude. The next generation is worse off than us. When the Israelite's were given land from Joshua, they instantly wanted more. They complained about the small portion. They wanted more area for their families. As a result, Joshua told them to go into the forest and clear some land, do some work, and get the land they desired.
The Israelite's were given something. They didn't have to work for it. It was handed to them. Free of charge. No expectations. No stipulations. Just here, enjoy this. And yet, they wanted more. Gimme Gimme Gimme. Apparently humans have always had an attitude of 'I deserve more.' Looking at this you might be thinking, are you kidding me? You are given this land with no expectations and you still want more. How could someone be like that?
Stop, wait a minute. Aren't you like that? You were given things, freely, with no expectation of payment? Your life, your talents, your abilities. And yet you still want more. The beautiful thing about God is that He freely gives. Everything that you already need is already in your reach, you just have to 'clear the forest' to find it. You have to put a little work in to get something out. Sometimes you have to remove things that you thought were necessary so that you can grow and get something different that you need.
In a country focused on it's increasing obesity epidemic, I find it amazing at the amount of products or programs that are on the market to 'curve your appetite' or help you jump start your weight loss. I'm not saying that these products don't work or they are a fraud, but you have to put in work to get the results you want. 2 years ago I lost 60 lbs on watching my intake of food and walking weekly. I didn't take any pills, other than vitamin C and pain medicine for the pain from over working my body.
After hard work dropping numbers on the scale, I got pregnant. I wasn't expecting that outcome when I started walking and eating better. I just expected to look fantastic and feel better about myself. God had different plans. When we start working on an area that we are trying to clear, our results might not always line up with what God has planned. We have to start the process of clearing off the land that we were provided with and watch what God does.
Know that everything you keep asking for is already given to you. You jut have to find it. You have to put in some hard working hours. Clear the land. Uncover your destiny, hidden in the woods.
