Start at Chapter 1

Since I finished one book, I picked up another one. I've been intimidated by this book for a long time because it's about the Holy Spirit. There are so many different views on the role of the Holy Spirit, so I've been a little on edge about reading it. With that being said, I'm going to read the book, and give an overview of the points that meant the most to me. I know NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, about the Holy Spirit. Zip. So, if you don't know anything, you can learn with me. If you know everything, then touch you :-D

The first chapter is about the Nature and Role of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 talks about the list of works of the Holy Spirit, which are also known as gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been working hardcore since the beginning. The Holy Spirit is omnipotent, or all-powerful. In Psalm 139:7, David talks about Where can I go from your Spirit. Well that's because the Spirit is everywhere. He knows everything. Yes, he is your basic creeper.

The Holy Spirit strives to bring man into a place of reconciliation with God. When you felt, or feel, that stirring in your gut to be more like God and to live a holy life, that is the moving and functioning of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has lots of jobs and lots of things that it does. This is one of the earliest encounters we have with him that we can pinpoint. I'm not saying that you have never experienced him prior to your moment of salvation because I'm sure you have. However, this is one of those moments in life you can look back on and know that it was an encounter with the Holy Spirit.

It's kind of like the Holy Spirit is the mouth piece of God. It communicates with us what God wants us to know and takes our words back up to God to deliver. 1 Peter 4:10 tells us As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another. When we are gifted with the Holy Spirit, or one of his special gifts, we are to share it with others. We wouldn't want to keep it to ourselves. Satan likes to cover up where as God likes to reveal things.

This is a crash course in chapter one. The book is VERY good. It took me a long time to get through the chapters because of the intensity and description in them. I'm not the best when it comes with comprehending, but I'm doing better. The next chapter covers the Charismatic Renewal. It's pretty cool too. I'm super excited to see what God does through the knowledge that I gain from reading this book, and sharing it with you guys!
